Barclay to Hopewell Bay, ON

Wednesday, 6/10 Barclay Island to Hopewell Bay
Hopewell Bay, ON
The forecast was for thunderstorms, wind and rain so we decided to make an early departure from Barclay to get to Hopewell Bay, about an hour away. 20 minutes after we finished anchoring, the rains came, the winds rose to 20 to 30 knots and then came the thunder and lightening. Thank the Lord that we made it in time!

A lone cottage at the entrance to our anchorage
By mid afternoon, the winds moved around from south to west as predicted and the storm clouds moved on. Just south of us, they had tornado warnings so we were pretty lucky! Hopewell Bay is another stunning, wild bay with no one here, or even close but us and a couple of small cottages that look to be deserted.

Lush woods and rocks near us
During the storm, we spent just about all morning pouring over charts trying to find possible anchorages that would get us to Port Severn. After lunch, Carol did a couple of loads of laundry while we charged batteries. Jim worked on some boat projects and then wet a couple of fishing lines once the rain stopped. No luck, though. Bummer.
