True to the forecast, it never did stop raining
on Friday until almost 5:00 so we worked on boat projects and relaxed. Friday
morning, Carol fixed a wonderful omelet breakfast that we enjoyed while
watching the workers in the marina installing new docks around us - - in the
rain. Their boating season up here is only about 2 months so they have to work
hard to get ready for it.
Saturday dawned bright and clear so we took off
on our bikes to visit the nearby Killbear Provincial Park which is supposed to
have 5 of the best beaches in all of Ontario. We took a wrong turn and ended up
in a peninsula of private homes where they put signs up so people know where
they live.

We got back to the boat around 11:00 and filled
up our water and fuel tanks at the marina. Then we headed off to Huckleberry Island in Parry
Sound, a pretty good sized lake with lots of islands and homes scattered around
the edge

We dropped the anchor at 1:10, had some lunch
and dropped the dinghy to go exploring. Our main goal was to see the “Hole in
the wall” passage on the other side of our island, about 5 miles away.

There were 3 other sailboats in our little anchorage
tonight. Not surprising since it is Saturday night. As soon as we got back, Jim
tried drowning some worms and then set off in the dinghy in search of some
walleye or bass or whatever. Though the water is crystal clear, the bottom appears
to be just mud. No weeds, no nothing, no fish. Argghhhh.
