To the right is FDR's elevator. He wanted to be self sufficient so it was fitted with ropes that he would use to haul himself up and down.
It was inspirational to see someone so intent on living a normal life in spite of his Polio paralysis.

Regardless of your opinion of FDR's policies and changes, the Presidential Library here is a MUST SEE for every American. The presentations, audio and videos of the 20's through the 40's was truly fabulous. The Great Depression and World War II history was very well done. It really needs 2 days to be able to take it all in!
