After spending most of February at home in order to attend a
special Rotary event and compete in a dance competition (9 blue ribbons!),we
returned to Samba who was patiently waiting for us in Nassau. After a couple of
days provisioning and prepping her, we headed the 70 miles to Staniel Cay where
we were to meet our friends, Greg & Sheila Cobb.
On Saturday, we moved Samba from a nearby anchorage over to
the small marina at Staniel Cay Yacht Club. They gave us a tiny spot between two
monsters right at the end of the dock. Though really difficult to get into
since there was only about 3 feet in front and back of us, It turned out to be a
nice location in the marina.
That afternoon, some fishermen just came in with some huge
lobsters. The price was right so we got a couple for dinner the next night.
Wow!
Notice how many nurse sharks had come around to
enjoy the leftovers from the cleaning!
We rented a golf cart & met the Cobbs at the
small airfield just a few blocks form the marina.
Greg is a pretty big guy so they had him sit
right behind the pilot to help with weight distribution. He had to bend nearly
double to get out of the plane.

While waiting for a table in the nearby patio restaurant we enjoyed a glass of wine on Samba's upper deck.

Sunday morning before leaving, we went through our ship’s safety briefing which, of course, included a little discussion of TP conservation. It’s pretty amazing how much you can accomplish with just 1 square of toilet paper (just ask Sheila!) 😁
We left the marina and anchored in a nearby harbor. Then, we
went ashore to visit the only inhabitants of the island. Needless to say, they
were a bunch of porkers!
This skinny gal looked like she had just had a littler. She did appreciate being scratched behind her ear.
This is a boatload of tourists from Nassau. Notice how excited the pigs were to see them!
A little later this day we had a marvelous snorkeling
experience. Stay tuned for that!
