Everglades City - Day 2

Based on the local knowledge Jim & John picked up the night before, they walked the mile to town before breakfast to get a couple dozen live shrimp in hopes of enticing a few beauties to take a little nibble and nibble they did - - woo hoo!

After breakfast, Jim & John drowned some shrimp while the ladies rented a little golf cart and headed to town to explore.

The sign says it all - - and they mean it. LOL
Once the guys depleted their 2 dozen shrimp (more on that in a minute), they hailed Carol & Barb & visited the town's little museum which was quite interesting. Lots of information on the Calusa Indians who originally lived here as well as the history on the making of what is now the Tamiami Trail highway.

After a rather mediocre meal the previous night, the lunch at the City Seafood Restaurant was great.
Notice the sign above the counter!
We had never seen such a selection of frog legs but decided to forego those dainties for other local choices.

The shrimp po boy that Jim & Carol split was excellent and way big.

After lunch, the ladies checked out the pool . . .
. . . while the guys picked up some more shrimp and continued their fishing expedition.

John found a nice little honey hole off the bow of the boat and a number of black sea bass and sheepsheads.
There was an occasional catfish mixed in but those are pretty disgusting due to their slime covering so we sent them back over. More on "gaftopsail cats" tomorrow.
Before the day was over, we had 8 nice black sea bass and 4 sheepsheads, enough for both some fresh ceviche' and 2 nights of grilled fish. Yeahhh!
