Monday morning, we left just a little before sunrise because of our long, 7.5 hour trip to Key West.
Just as the sun was coming up, the dolphins were coming out to escort us. How nice!
Here's a fun video of the dolphins bobbing around the bow.
These are some shrimp boats we encountered close to Key West. The weather was great until we were maybe 5 miles from our marina. Then the rain and fog came. For a while, we had to go dead slow because we couldn't see anything at all.
We cruised around the outer harbor for a half an hour until there was a lull in the rain. Then, we headed for our slip.
It was tight threading our way around some of these behemoths but we made it in safely before the rain started again.
The rain finally passed around 4:00 so we headed to town. Notice how flooded the streets were!
Mallory Square was pretty quiet. At sunset, it gets pretty crazy. There were lots of chickens and roosters running around.
We decided to have an early dinner and then enjoy the festivities at Mallory Square. What a beautiful yellowtail snapper.
Timing is everything isn't it?!
Once the sun had set, we watched a street performer do his stuff. He was really quite talented.
John & a couple of other guys helped the performer mount his unicycle. Once up there, he did a number of tricks, including juggling fire batons.
Don't you think this would be a great picture for Gauger's Christmas card next year? We think everyone should have a photo bomber - LOL.
