On the water again!

This beautiful Caribbean Reef Squid was behind our boat in the marina at Emerald Bay one day.

We had never seen anything like this before so we asked a marine research vessel that was parked just across from us in the marina. They couldn't identify it so they sent pictures of it to some of their colleagues who identified it as a juvenile Caribbean Reef Squid. He was really amazing to watch!

The day we've been waiting for finally arrived. Recall Carol spent a little over a week back home with her dad. Then, we spent a week on a mission trip in Jamaica. Once back, the winds were way too high so we did laundry and waited. Today was the day!

Our trip today was only about 5 miles to a lovely little island - Black Cay.

As we were leaving our slip, a friend across the way took a couple of pictures of us heading out. Carol is waving from the bow.

Even the cut leaving the marina was pretty benign today!

The water in our anchorage at Black Cay was amazing!

Before lunch we decided to take the dinghy to the nearby beach for some shelling and then some exploring of the unfinished home up on the hill.

We were surprised that the workers just left everything and never returned. All of the rebar had totally disintegrated and even the cement mixer had rusted through.
After lunch, Carol followed Jim in the dinghy as he looked for some dinner. Though he only was able to get 1 coney, it was nice to be in the water.
Tomorrow, we plan to anchor off of Rat Cay. Hopefully the vermin aren't too aggressive!
