Ralph & Leigh Duckwall joined us on Samba's maiden voyage which took us from Vermillion, OH to Put-in Bay on South Bass Island in Lake Erie. It was around 30 miles on a nice calm lake. Samba did great and Put-in Bay turned out to be a marvelous destination island in the middle of Lake Erie. You should go if you get a chance!

We took a tram tour of the island, went spelunking in a cave and visited Perry's monument. Put-in Bay is where the War of 1812 was basically won in a major sea battle with the British. The monument is actually a peace monument.

A great explanation and demonstration
of how soldiers fought in 1812. |

| On our way into the largest cave on South Bass Island |
Commodore Oliver Perry's statue and the amazing peace tower behind him. It is the 3rd largest monument in the US. The only taller ones are the St. Louis Arch and the Washington Monument
