The trip from Detroit to the Canadian check-in at Sarnia and the trip to Goderich, ON has been wonderful. Winds have been low, the water has been flat and it's been cool. PTL!!!

Canadian customs check-in was by phone. Wow.
Our slip in Sarnia, ON was right up next to the office and the Canadian land line customs check-in. Before beginning our trip, we had filed a variety of Canadian customs forms so the actual check-in took about 10 minutes on the phone.

By the time we tied up and checked in to Canadian Customs, it was after 5:00 so we relaxed on Samba's upper deck. For dinner, we fired up our new grill for the first time with some pork chops. Woo hoo!

Scallops on Lake Huron
The 50 mile trip on Lake Huron on Thursday was lovely and calm. We only saw 1 fishing boat and 1 freighter all day. Still cool and pretty foggy & hazy.
We tied up Thursday afternoon in Goderich, Ontario, THE salt capital of the Great Lakes. The mine is right behind our boat and goes 1/4 mile below the lake and 3 miles out under it!
Although it was after 5:00 before we filled up with fuel & tied up, we got our bikes down and headed into town which is located up a rather steep hill with an ugly switchback. We ended up walking the bikes up the hill. Argghhh.

Irish Pub dinner. Note the bikes.
We found out there was a concert (in French) at the town center that night so we decided to have dinner at a little Irish Pub to wait on the concert to start. It would have been too far to try to go back to the boat and then return.
