8/14/15 Oxford, MD - Dunns

Thursday - Annapolis to Oxford, MD
Carol catching up on her journal while Tom drives
What a break! No wind and flat seas meant a very pleasant 30 mile ride from Annapolis to Oxford which is on the other side of the Chesapeake.

Tina enjoying the calm water & reading

Who can resist on a day like this?

Heading into the little Oxford harbor

This quiet little marina was a welcome change from Annapolis

Tom & Tina rented bikes at the marina
& we all headed into town to explore
Oxford wasn't very big. Their claim to fame
was the Inn and the Oxford picket fencing
which originated here.
This is a shot in the Vintage Inn, the oldest inn in America.
It was 305 years old today!

Cute!
Dinner with Barry & Mimi Starke - Owners of "Middlespring", a 1600's plantation
Barry & Mimi are old friends of Tom & Tina who graciously invited us all to their home for dinner. It was a 20 to 30 minute drive to an old colonial plantation that was out in the middle of nowhere. They have meticulously restored it and were so kind to let us spend the evening with them!

All the fireplaces were restored to working order.
This one was in the kitchen.

Ever seen a fiberglass
clawfoot jacuzzi bathtub?
The lovely backyard

Such gracious hosts!
