Monday, 8/17 - Annapolis to Solomons

| An LNG gas terminal in the Chesapeake en route to the Solomons |
Monday morning, we left our slip in Annapolis around 8:00 and headed to Solomons, MD, a 40 mile trip. The weather was perfect so it was a relaxing trip. Solomons was listed as one of the top 4 destinations on the Chesapeake so we thought we should check it out. Once we arrived at our anchorage, we dropped the dinghy & headed to town. Though there were quite a few marinas, the town wasn't very impressive. They had lots of restaurants and bars but that was about it. Our anchorage, though, was very pretty, very quiet and very relaxing!

Notice our anchor buoy? It lets other boaters know where we
dropped our anchor. |

| St. Mary's College |
We dropped the anchor in a lovely anchorage near St. Mary's college and St. Mary City. The city actually isn't a city. It was originally the capital of Maryland before it was moved to Annapolis. After 100 years or so, it disappeared - - completely. Now, it is in the middle of an archaeological dig and restoration. It's an attempt to recreate what was once one of the most important towns in America.
