Wednesday, 8/26/15 - Alexandria to Washington, D.C.
 |
| Constant flow of planes into the airport |
Though just a short hop from Alexandria to our marina at the Gangplank in downtown Washington, there was quite a bit to see.
 |
| The Naval Research Lab |
 |
| Which side of the green sailboat do we go? |
 |
From our slip in the Gangplank Marina, we can count
13 cranes working on the new marina complex |
 |
The Gangplank is a quiet, live-aboard marina just a few
blocks from the national mall |
 |
We decided to ride around the mall
to see what was here before visiting
any of the museums. |
 |
| So many beautiful museums all around the mall |
 |
| The American Indian museum |

The Washington Monument is the most
prevalent site in Washington. |
 |
It's hard to capture just how big it is.
Suzanne, Chris & Carol are at the base of it! |
 |
After riding around the mall, we spent a couple of hours in the
Holocaust Museum. There is so much there, we barely scratched
the surface - wow! |
Thursday, 8/27 - Washington D.C.

Shortly after we arrived the police cleared the street & moved
everyone away from the White House |

Notice the pigeon giving Andrew Jackson a little dollop of love?
The Washington Monument & White House are in the background. |

That evening, as luck would have it, there was an outstanding
jazz quartet playing just outside our marina. What a great end
to an amazing day in Washington D.C |
