8/28/15 Washington D.C. & Wineries - Turcich

Friday, 8/28/15 - Washington D.C.
Chris, Carol & Jim spent the morning visiting more of Washington D.C. sights while Suzanne rested on Samba. The plan was to leave Washington by 1:00 in order to arrive at our Occoquan marina before 5:00.
The World War II Memorial was a great tribute to our war effort

The memorial area was surrounded with
beautiful bronze bas-relief plaques

Eagles holding a wreath of peace

A fitting quote!
The Korean War Memorial was quite moving!
Notice Carol & Chris reflected in the wall that depicted
the faces of the war?

Quote at the Korean War Memorial:

Our nation honors her sons and daughters who answered the call to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met.

The ghostly images of the platoon in formation reflected behind the faces of the war was spectacular.

We didn't have time to visit the Jefferson Memorial.
Maybe next time.

At the recommendation of another boater,
we visited the Library of Congress. What
an awesome place!

The grandeur of the mosaic tiles naturally
draws your eyes up!

We had a great tour guide

The dome in the reading room
A great quote

Sculptures adorn all the staircases
