Saturday, 9/19/15 - York River to Norfolk


The trip from York River Yacht Haven to our marina in downtown Norfolk took almost 4 hours. As we approached Norfolk, we couldn't help but be amazed by the variety of very large ships, the port activity and the very small boats.

As we pulled into our slip in the deserted downtown waterfront marina, we noticed lots of music and activity right next to us. As luck would have it, there was an indie music festival going on. 3 sound stages, lots of concession tents and lots of folks just chillin'. What a nice introduction to Norfolk!

Norfolk is the city of mermaids. Everywhere we went and everywhere we looked, there were mermaids.

After visiting the indie music festival, we walked around downtown Norfolk a little bit to take in the city. Clean, quiet and safe. Yeahhh.

We returned to Samba, cleaned up a bit and had a nice dinner at a little cafe downtown. This was a great way to relax before our day of cleaning, laundry and provisioning on Sunday - - all day.
