Wednesday, 10/28 - Edisto River Anchorage to Beaufort, SC
"Wow, this is soooo great!"
The river was so muddy, we figured we would have a mess on our hands as we brought up the anchor. However, it was actually fairly clean.
Carol showed Jim where to move the boat as she raised the anchor while Stan hosed off the chain.
The anchor wasn't too bad. Notice the raincoats!
Though our trip today is only about 28 miles, it was important to leave by 9:00 in order to transit a number of skinny spots at mid tide or higher. At low tide, they have been reported to be 3' deep but with a tide swing of 7' to 10', we figure we'll be OK.
Beaufort, SC
After tying up at the downtown marina, we found a carriage ride tour of the historical district.
Bro & Sis enjoying the ride

After lowering our antennae, we were able to pass under this 30' swing bridge in Beaufort
This is Jim the draft horse. Not to be confused with Jim the, "just call me mule" variety. LOL
The old homes here are beautiful but sometimes difficult to see with all the Spanish moss & foliage
Built in 1798, Beaufort's arsenal sported a couple of cannons that were never used
Everyone needs a mermaid as their town mascot!
There are amazing live oak trees all over town
Thanking Jim for his hard work
Playing around on this old carriage step
We loved the gardens behind many of the homes
Heading back to our slip at the end of the dock
A little sunshine & a lot of walking makes for a tired girl!
Di gave Carol her birthday present before we got dressed for dinner ...
A beautiful shawl
Enjoying some local raw oysters before dinner!
