The 2 skipjack tunas were each close to 2 ft in length. The
first one was quite the fighter, especially as he got close to the boat.
When we lightly seared it on the grill, the meat was fabulous!
There was no wind at all this day and the seas were glassy smooth. It
was such a pleasant trip!
As we rounded the corner of the Berry Islands
chain, we encountered a couple of cruise ships at their “private island”
paradise that is still under construction.
There were actually 2 very small islands that have
been converted to cruise ship stopovers. The first one had a ship anchored off
the island and looked like it had zip lines running all around the place.
The 2nd one had a ship moored to a new dock at the island where it appeared they were constructing some ridiculously large water slides. From a distance, it looks like they’re planning to give Disney a run for their money.
Then came the attack of the mosquitos – aka jet ski pack!
They appeared to be from one of the cruise ships and were
taking their customers on an adrenelaine-laced trip.
We left the cruise ship insanity and a few miles
later, entered the cut that would take us to our quiet, sheltered marina to
hide out in while the weather rages.
We’ll report back to you on the weather “event” once we make
it through to the other side.
