6-17-19 Alder Cay

The sunrise this morning was pretty encouraging for better weather. Though not windy or rainy, it's been overcast the past few days so this morning's sunrise looked great!

We had a pleasant cruise the 10 miles over to where we hoped to anchor in order to visit Flo's little "restaurant".

This is Kim's favorite place to ride when underway!

Unfortunately, the preferred anchorage at Flo's was waaay too rolly so we tried a different one across the way at Alder Cay. This turned out to be a good decision, both for the calmness of the water and the interesting hike we took.

First, though was checking the anchor and the unusual white thing that was sitting on the ocean floor.

Who knows what treasures the ocean holds!

With a pretty swift current flowing through this anchorage, we needed a rope tied to the boat to keep us from floating off into never-never land.

After cooling off, the girls fixed a great lunch & then it was off to explore the island.

Sea biscuits are quite good at camouflaging themselves with bits of dead sea grass.

So many treasures, so little time!

As it turns out, this was a private island with a spectacular little, hidden inlet. Wow. Fortunately, the owners were gone & so we didn't get in trouble.

Out of curiosity, we broke open a dead sea biscuit only to find a tiny shrimp inside guarding what appeared to be an egg.

After exploring more on the deserted beach, we headed out to do some dinghy exploring of a nearby protected cove.

We found lots of treasures on this fun little beach.

Then, it was fresh tuna for din din!
