Sunday morning, we were up at 3:30 am and were underway by 4:00 in order to get across the Atlantic Gulf Stream and into our marina upriver from Stuart while the sun was still out.
Both days, the wind was low and the seas were almost completely flat. Though the days were long, the cruise was wonderful!
Notice how flat the water was during the sunrise on Sunday! This picture was taken in the Gulf Stream.
At 3:00pm as we pulled into the St. Lucie inlet near Stuart, it was pretty obvious we were back in the States. Boats were zooming by all around us.
It's always a welcome sight when we go under the drawbridge in Stuart. That means our marina is only about an hour away. Woo hoo!
When the boat spends almost 6 months in the hot Florida heat, we try to take everything home for cleaning so it will be fresh when we arrive at the end of hurricane season.
Right after arriving at our slip, we were both quite hot and just about jumped into the Lake Okeechobee run-off to cool down. Good thing we didn't as this big guy wandered by the back of our boat the next morning!!!
It's always a sad day when we have to pull & block Samba. 😞
We keep Samba at American Custom Yachts, a large boat yard located right on the St. Lucie River and far enough inland that hurricane flooding is non-existent.
We always thank the Lord for this amazing boat He has given us!
We hope you have enjoyed this season's blog. See you next season!
