6-20-19 Little Shark Creek

Thursday, we left the marina at 8:30 in order to get to the beginning of Little Shark Creek an hour before high tide. The trip to the beginning of the creek took almost an hour!

We were pretty sure where we were going but not completely. That always adds to the interest!

So, this is where we thought the creek entrance was and sure enough, once we got into the mangroves, we found it!

Some places were skinny enough that Kevin & Jim had to paddle.

Throughout the creek, the water was crystal clear.

At the end of the creek, it opened into the ocean.

We tied the dinghy up and then hiked around this lovely, deserted island. So much beauty!

At this point, Jim, Kevin & Kim decided to hike to the peak of the island while Carol went back to enjoy the shade by the dinghy.

The view at the top was so inspirational that Kevin took out his Bible & shared some scripture with us. God is so good!

Once down, we were all pretty hot so we took advantage of this little tidal pool.

Carol found a couple of conch shells to add to this little cairn.

This was Carol's shady little slice of heaven while the others were hiking.

After a quick bite of lunch, we headed back through the Little Shark Creek. Fortunately, our timing with the tide was just right!

Once out of the creek, we began the 1 hour ride back to the marina. En route, we stopped at this lovely little deserted beach to cool off.

Once back at the marina, we had some more time left in the afternoon so we borrowed some bikes from the marina & rode into the little village. While there, we stopped at the only "restaurant" & had some cold drinks.

There was a tiny shop near the marina that offered frozen drinks so Kim took advantage of a passion fruit shake. Yum!

Our final night together, we celebrated a fun, fun week of amazing adventures.

Friday morning, Kim & Kevin headed back home while Jim & Carol readied Samba for the 140 mile trip back to the states where she will be hauled out and blocked up for the coming hurricane season.

The marina guys here are some of the nicest we've ever seen. They help with everything including taking people to and from the airport. This is Smokey.
