Dives #1 & 2 - The Reef

This year, there are 6 in our family who SCUBA dive. Hannah, our 11 year old granddaughter was just certified in Indiana and was both excited and a little nervous about her very first open water dive!

Prior to going under, our dive master gave us a briefing on what we could expect and how the dive would go.
Carol relaxing as she waited on the rest of the group to descend.
The first dive of the day was on a plane wreck. It was a small one that was brought down in the 60's for doing things they shouldn't have been doing.
Son Jim decided to check out the inside of the plane.

By the second dive, Hannah was feeling pretty good about being in the ocean. Here, she's with her buddy, our dive master.
In 2020, we have 3 people who turn 40 so we thought it appropriate to celebrate being 40 at 40 feet under the surface!

Notice the eyes of this large ray who had covered himself with sand and was pretending we couldn't see him.

This is a science experiment being conducted by a local ocean school. They are trying to grow coral. Once it is thriving, they plan to plant it in various places in an attempt to refresh older, dying coral reefs.

This was a fun "swim-through" we did.

We love these little Christmas Tree Worms.
