We anchored just off the main part of town and took the dinghy into the dilapidated town dock.
Once in, Carol, Jen & Tammi went sightseeing & shopping, the rest of the crew set off down the highway for the boiling hole and cave.
The boiling hole is actually a blue hole with a subterranean connection to the ocean. When the tides are just right, the lake erupts into a boiling frenzy.
And it's into the rabbit hole we go!
There were lots of side shoots, rabbit holes that went back to the surface and lots of tree roots that found their way into the cavity. Fun and . . .
creepy.
And of course, it had its share of grumbling little bats who weren't particularly happy we were in their house.
We were the only boat in the harbour and nearly the only people in town.
We went back to the boat for lunch and then returned to town to visit the big blue hole.
At over 600 feet deep, right in the middle of town, it's a beautiful natural phenomenon. No stream going into or leaving it. Just a deep hole with lots of ocean fish who have found their way into it.
Then it was back to the boat for some chillin' in the ocean before heading back.
If an exhausted crew is any indication of a successful adventure, we had a pretty good day of it!
