We left Cape Eleuthera Thursday morning and once the lines were stowed, put out our 2 poles to troll on our way to Cat Island, a 50 mile journey. Less than 30 minutes into trolling, we got a hit!
He didn't want to come in very badly and put up a darn good fight. Finally, we got him close enough to the boat that Jim could gaff him & bring him aboard.
A 4' 11" Wahoo! Woohoo!!
Talk about lots of meat. The filleting kept Jim busy for a quite a while.
This is the very end point of Eleuthera. Rugged & quite beautiful.
We passed Little San Salvador, a privately-owned island by Holland Cruise Lines. There were 2 cruise ships anchored off the island & it looked like they were ferrying passengers to the play place between them.
Notice how quickly the water turns from dark blue to shallow. Here, this close to shore, the water was nearly 1,000 feet deep!
We dropped anchor in Bennett's Harbour, a lovely little anchorage. We were the only boat there - of course. There were what appeared to be a number of small rental cottages.
Carol spent most of the evening working vacuum packing on our fresh fish so we could freeze it.
This was enough for 1 evening - - 22 meal-size bags & a couple of servings we planned to grill.
Yes, Wahoo makes wonderful steaks! The taste is sort of like swordfish. Thank you Lord!
