As we approached the point off of Hawk's Nest where the marina is located, the water colors were amazing!
We had to find our way to a small creek that led to the marina.
As you can see, there was plenty of room for us.
This is the view to the entrance to the creek. The building on the right used to be a bar but is no longer open .
It's pretty quiet in here!
Carol spent the rest of the afternoon finishing up cleaning & vacuum packing our Wahoo. 42 meals total -- wow! Then, we called in the sharks as we fed them the scraps.
There looked like 1 smaller nurse shark and a number of pretty large reef sharks.
At one point, the discussion got pretty heated. One of the bigger sharks took a swipe at one of the smaller ones and laid him open just above his eye with foot long gash.
The marina office here is about 1/2 mile away at a private airstrip & little resort so they gave us a couple of bikes to use to go to the office or resort.
The resort is small but nicely kept. They have some amazing murals painted on their walls. The one behind Carol is nearly finished.
They had a nice looking pool overlooking this beach area.
Do you think the incoming planes would stop????? We had to cross the airstrip to get back to the marina.
Once back at the marina, we explored on around the point. This place used to have a lovely view of the ocean. However, when you build homes here from sticks, they don't last very long.
The forecast is looking pretty ugly for the next week or so. We have 1 calm day on Monday before the winds pick back up so we've decided to make a run for a marina on Great Exuma, about 40 miles from here. Once there, we'll leave Samba for a little while and return home. Though our current marina is really well protected & safe, it's crazy expensive at nearly $4,000/month. ARGGHHH!
