Rock Sound 2 Governor's Harbour

We finally made it to our Cape Eleuthera marina Sunday evening and spent Monday morning opening her up and getting all of the systems operating. Since we were running ahead of schedule, we decided to take off after lunch for Rock Sound, a 1 1/2 hour cruise.

Once we left the marina, Carol showed Laurynn how to coil and stow our lines.

As we neared the Rock Harbour mouth, we were on a collision course with the supply ship so we dropped back to follow him in since he was a little bigger than us.

We anchored just off shore from their pretty church.

Tuesday morning, we upped the anchor fairly early in order to make it to Governor's Harbour in time to hike to a place we thought would be interesting for lunch.

Here, Carol is teaching granddaughter Laurynn how to give Jim signals when raising the anchor.;
It was lovely day so Laurynn got to enjoy much of the ride from the bow pulpit seat.

We dropped the anchor in Governor's Harbour, the capital of Eleuthera right around noon so we immediately launched the dinghy and headed across the island to Bacchus which was maybe a mile from town.

It wasn't very large but the food was good. We, of course, were the only ones there for part of the time.
They had some interesting foods so we picked up a few things before heading back to town.

The tide was still out so we had to muscle the dinghy into deeper water.

We returned to the boat to empty the pack from our Bacchus treasures & went back into town to get groceries. Once fully loaded, we again returned to the boat, unloaded and headed back to town to explore a little.

Their little library was neat and clean but the building needed a bit of TLC.

Notice that we're all by ourselves in the harbour!

St Patrick Anglican Church was open so we helped ourselves to a tour.

Notice how beautifully the pipes have been decorated.
Then, on to Cupid's Cay which was right next to Governor's Harbour.
Laurynn made some new friends with the local potcake pups.

Carol was explaining to Laurynn how so many of the homes here are run down. It's so sad.

Tomorrow we plan to head about an hour north to Alabaster Bay which is just a pretty as it sounds.
