Escape to the Cape

Ahhhh, here we go. This is the week that pretty much defined our cruising this season.

The Clan arrived and it was an amazing week.

Daughter Jennifer & her family       Carol, Jim        Son Jim & his family
Erick & Jen Cavalcanti                          Jim 2 & Tammi Pattison
Hendrix, Hannah, Xander                          Tre, Laurynn, Ashlynn

While the 2 families stayed in adjoining villas at Cape Eleuthera, Jim & Carol stayed aboard Samba which was in a slip just across the marina bay.

For the majority of the week, we had much of the marina and just about all of the beach to ourselves - yay!

The winds were down and the ocean was nice and calm. As soon as we hit the beach, the kids hit the kayaks & paddle boards.

Sometimes we stayed on top of the water and sometimes we didn't!

The hammock was a great place to relax . . . that is, until one of those pesky tickle bugs interrupts your siesta.

We also did some snorkeling right off the beach.

The kids were quite proud of finding a nice sized king helmet conch while snorkeling

!

The plan was to have meals on the boat. Well, that worked OK for the first night right after everyone arrived.

Then, as the weather got a little funky in the evenings, we cooked on the boat and ate at the villas.

Sometimes, a feller just has to get a little crabby!

Due to an incoming tropical storm, we were told everyone would have to leave on Friday so at dinner on Thursday evening, Hannah snuck Jim's guitar off the boat and surprised him by playing along with Zac Brown on Knee Deep. She had worked for months to get it ready. What a great surprise!

In our next blog entry, we'll share some pictures of our shark dive - - - stay tuned!
