6/16 Ruddy Isle to Indian Harbour

6/16/16 Ruddy Island to Indian Harbour
Breakfast anyone?
Today was another interesting day. It was a little hazy so Jim went out before breakfast in the dinghy and caught a 27” Northern Pike that he cleaned for later eating.
Muddy bottoms means lots of spraying
At 9:00 we headed out for Indian Harbour. Within 2 miles, we ran into a pretty heavy fog bank. Because of the intricate trip we had today, we cooled our heels in a little bay that was the hub for 6 different passageways. We waited around for 45 minutes and decided to backtrack to somewhere close to our previous anchorage to drop the anchor to wait out the fog. As we retreated, the fog behind us looked like it was chasing us into our anchorage.

The fog bank was literally chasing us

By 10:45, the fog lifted and it was a beautiful day. Because of things to come, it was a good thing we postponed our departure. This may sound like a broken record but this was the most intense day yet. By noon, we were so very thankful for a bright sunlit sky that helped us identify shallows and shoals. Phew!

The scenery here is just breathtaking!

Can we really make that tight turn & fit between the markers?
There are 2 other markers you can see in this picture and
4 others you can't see that we wound around.

We did fit with about a foot on each side of the boat.

Look at the colors they used on
the windows. Fun little place.

sticky notes and binoculars

By 1:00, we dropped the anchor in Indian Harbour and breathed a very big sigh of relief. The wind was predicted to rise from 15 knots to gusting 30 knots so this should be a pretty safe place to hide out.

See the greeter standing on the rock way back on the right?

After lunch, we took the dinghy on an exploration trip around a nearby island. Then Jim dropped Carol off at the boat and headed out to drown some lures. Success! 3 nice smallmouth bass were added to our freezer.   The largest was 17”. Yeahhh.

Sunset looking out the back of the boat!
